Our Autumn concert this year was a celebration of music at one of Liverpool's most stunning landmarks. We had everything from soloists to ensembles with our staff performing and supporting their students as well.
Gold Music puts on a minimum of 3 concerts a year to give our students an opportunity to showcase and share what they have been learning in their 1-1's. Our students are encouraged to put what they learn in practise into real life musical situations out in the community and learn stage craft, communicating with an audience and taking their work from a practise level to a performance level to be enjoyed by our full Gold Music Tuition Community.
We would like to give a special thanks to our sponsors for this event:
Mossley Hill Tuition
Kooth Mental Health Services
Prelude School of Music
Tropic Skincare
Without our sponsors, putting on events like this would be much more difficult to finance.
The concert opened with a Swingin' Piano Prelude of beautiful background jazz to set the mood; our guests enjoyed a refreshment and browse of our well-being stalls and the concert then began. We travelled from the 1700's all the way to the music of the present day with Classical favourites, Jazz to warm the soul and well known hits from the stage and screen. There really was something for everybody!
Closing remarks from Helen, Gold Music Tuition's Director:
"I am extremely proud of all of our students who access music through Gold and I am very lucky that I manage such a supportive and talented team of staff. Gold Music is going from strength to strength and the calibre of students and talent that our concerts showcase shows the hard work that goes on behind the scenes week to week. It is a treat to gain a small glimpse into the musical journey's of all of our individuals - it really is without a doubt the best part of the job!"
Our next concert is our Christmas Concert which is booked for Sunday 15th December 2024! Please let us know if you are coming, we would love to see you there!
The concert opened with a clarinet duet arrangement of Greensleeves which was arranged by our very own Adam and accompanied by our Gold Music accompanist Ben. The earthy and atmospheric tone of the clarinets together combined with piano accompaniment set the scene for the musical delights that followed.
The concert then proceeded with solo's and duets from both children studying with us at Gold Music. Our showcase demonstrated about half of the students we have studying with us at Gold Music and we suspect our next concert will be even bigger!
The instruments showcased where mostly piano and woodwind and it was fantastic to see such variety in skill and ability. We had students as young as 7 or 8 just starting out on instruments giving their first public performance and also welcomed more seasoned performers of grade 6 - 8 level; many of which were preparing for upcoming ABRSM exams.
Reed & Ivory, Northern Clarinet and Piano Duo closed the concert with a performance of Oblivion by Astor Piazzolla.
Closing remark from Helen, Gold Music Director:
"I cannot express how proud I am of each and every one of you for your professionalism, commitment, etiquette and beautiful music for this concert. Well done!!!
To parents and carers, thank you for supporting your children. It was great to see what they have been working on in their 1-1's!
To my tutors, thank you for your hard work this academic year in bringing your students on. I appreciate all that you do!"
Plans are now in motion for our next concert which is scheduled for 2nd December 2023 at The Heart Centre in Headingley, Leeds.
Have a fantastic summer break everyone!

On July 2nd 2022, Gold Music presented its first concert at St Brides Church, Liverpool. It was a resounding success and we are so proud of all of our students that took part!
The concert opened with the Prelude Woodwind Choir made up of flutes and clarinets. This was directed by Helen; the Manager at Gold Music. They opened with Mozart's famous Eine Kleine Nacht Musc. A short but sweet welcome to our audience and a taste of the beautiful music that was to follow.
The concert then proceeded with solo's and duets from both children and adults studying with us at Gold Music. Our showcase demonstrated about one eighth of the students we have studying with us at Gold Music and we suspect our next concert will be even bigger!
It was fantastic to have such a wide variety of instruments showcased at our concert. We heard some fantastic flute solo's by our performers Charlotte and Grace, clarinet was showcased by Gabrielle and we had Will on the Saxophone. We also had Craig and Simon representing our adult group on the piano and a triumphant trumpet solo by Rosa! Our penultimate performance was by Jacqui and her son Karl on the flute and guitar; a stunning performance and instrumental combination.
Reed & Ivory, Northern Clarinet and Piano Duo closed the concert with a performance of two movements from Paul Reade's Victorian Kitchen Garden Suite. A refreshing pallette cleanser to bring our showcase to a close.

We would like to congratulate Samuel on a fantastic audition at King David High School and St Edward's High School! Both schools offer specialist music places for gifted and talented students and we are pleased to share that Samuel ranked 12th out of 147 applicants!
Samuel is now waiting to hear back from Bluecoat High School and St Edward's High school after completing entrance exams and his musical aptitude audition.
Samuel has been training with Ben P for 7 months now and has made fantastic progress in both piano and musicianship. Ben recognised Samuel's natural musicianship and challenged him to a grade 3 programme ahead of his auditions.
Tutor Ben says: "Sam is such a nice lad and a pleasure to teach. He always works really hard and plays with maturity and expression!"
Well done Samuel and keep up the fantastic work!
Reed & Ivory Ensemble featuring Helen Goldsmith & Ben Cockburn rasie money for a worthwhile cause.
On 29th January 2021, Helen's mum sadly lost her life to a recurrence of cancer after being in remission for 17 years. To celebrate her life and memory, ensemble Reed & Ivory performed at an all day Macmillan Event in Lydiate, Liverpool to close family, friends and the community.
£1,236 was raised in total for Macmillan and Macmillan Merseyside.
Thank you to all of you who donated!
Here at Gold Music, we always do our best to support charities, raise awareness and wherever possible raise money.
Macmillan not only supports the sick but also families in need of support at devastating times.
This was truly a beautiful experience to be a part of!
"Ella performing Hypnosis by Ian Clarke"
"We are extremely proud of Ella for achieving her Grade 8 ABRSM flute this season with Merit! Ella has been taking lessons in flute with us for 4 years now and in this time has also achieved both GCSE and A Level Music as well as securing a place to study composition at the prestigious Birmingham Conservatoire in September!"
Ella's flute tutor Helen remarked: "Ella is a fantastic young musician who has grown in so much confidence throughout her training and has blossomed into a wonderful performer and composer. I wish her all the best in her future musical endeavours."
As well as being a wonderful performer, Ella is a very talented composer and has been described by tutor Adam L as "a real hard worker and up - and - coming composer" He is incredibly proud of her gaining a place to study composition at higher level.
Accompanist and performance coach Ben added "A Grade 8 Merit and place at a leading conservatoire?! WOW, I am thrilled! What a fantastic result at this level!"
Ella is now focusing her attention on developing her composition portfolio and intends to develop some multi reed skills in clarinet and saxophone under the tutelage of Helen.
We wish her all the best!!!!!

"It was an absolute pleasure having my piece "The Small Hours" for string septet performed, and conducting these phenomenal classical musicians was even better.
A huge thank you to the guys from the Northern String Quartet and the wonderful Elena Marigomez Dianaimh Ward Dani Sanxis. These are talented and patient musicians with a excellent set of skills.
A massive thank you to the studio-God Robert Whiteley for his patience, studio wizardry and professionalism and of course Stephen Pratt for his sage advice and seemingly endless knowledge of music (and wine!).
